About the author

Josh
Blair.

Two very different worlds. One fascination with the choices that never stop costing something.

Josh Blair writes epic fantasy and dark, unflinching paranormal fiction. Whether the sky is broken above Va’alorion or the shadows are closing around Victor Dennison, his stories ask what power demands—and what restraint makes possible.

The work

Shadows and
wider skies.

Josh writes across two distinct series, but both share a conviction: the hardest stories are the ones where nothing resolves cleanly.

Dark paranormal fiction

The Scent Series

A multi-book saga following Victor Dennison—a reformed serial killer turned werewolf alpha—as he navigates hidden packs, vampire courts, ancient hunters, and the fragile alliances required to hold it all together.

  1. 01The Scent of the Hunted
  2. 02The Scent of Mercy
  3. 03False Scent
  4. 04The Scent of Reckoning
  5. 05The Scent of Consequence

Horror that lingers: the quiet dread of things half-seen and the weight of choices that never stop costing something.

Enter the shadows

Epic fantasy

The Storm Tyrant of Blackglass

A five-book journey following Va’alorion from a boy chasing ravens across a broken sky to a man forced to reckon with power, peace, and the price both demand.

  1. 01The Boy Who Chased Ravens
  2. 02The Architect of Peace
  3. 03The Price of Certainty
  4. 04The Truth Forgotten
  5. 05Where the Maps End

Open roads and wider skies, anchored by the cost of growing up and the battles that do not end when victory arrives.

Behind the stories

By day, IT.
By night, worlds.

“The scariest thing in the room is rarely the monster with claws.”

By day, Josh works in IT. By night—and most weekends—he writes stories where restraint is harder than violence, where growing up costs more than any single battle, and where atmosphere and consequence carry more weight than shortcuts.

His fiction draws on a genuine love of slow-burn mystery and morally complicated characters. He is currently developing a new series that explores the deeper history of one of the Scent series’ most enigmatic supporting characters against the backdrop of nineteenth-century Europe.

When he is not writing, Josh can usually be found doing what every writer does between drafts: thinking about the next book.
